Faith Community Health Spring
God expects us to put as much conviction and commitment into taking care of our bodies as we do taking care of our souls. Why? God owns our bodies. He made them in His likeness. We have this one body on loan for our lifetime and will be asked to give a final accounting of our stewardship. “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies”. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
We are ACTIVE partners with God in caring for our physical and emotional well-being. Being aware of our health status, keeping informed of what constitutes a healthy lifestyle, and intentionally making healthy choices are our responsibility. God’s role is to guide, support and provide resources to help us achieve health.
Which choices are healthy? You will find many, often conflicting choices. Some effective, some not. Here is a safe starting point recommended by the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association. It’s called Life’s Simple 7. As you browse the site, remember, “You can do all things through Christ, who gives you strength”. Visit the website by clicking on the Life’s Simple 7 graphic below.
