Talent Quest 2014

The Lord has truly been good to Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church.  He has blessed our young people with many gifts and talents that minister in the name of our Lord.  It’s always amazing to see how God uses those who are willing and obedient, especially at such young ages.  The youth of EPHC, which includes Rescue 3:16 teens and ESB youth, range in ages from 8-19 demonstrating their gifts and shining for Jesus.  They recently performed in LaGrange, Ga., for our satellite campus church on March 30 and later ministered locally in our home church on Easter Sunday for “Empire’s Got Talent.” Empire students also performed in the state-wide Talent Quest which took place in Franklin Springs, Ga., on April 2 and 3.

In such a negative and spiritually draining society, it is very refreshing to see youth that want to live for and serve the Lord.  These young people and youth leaders worked tirelessly preparing for Talent Quest.  Many hours of finding the right pitch, moving with the right timing, drawing and erasing, and remembering the right moves were spent as they geared up for this event.  They were so dedicated that some of the teens sacrificed going to prom to experience this opportunity. Young people and youth leaders alike sacrificed rest and comfort on the long ride.  Even with inconveniences, including a couple of ‘wrong turns,’ they arrived with excitement and enthusiasm to perform and demonstrate the gifts and talents that God has blessed them with.  The ESB youth performed on Friday evening with entries in several categories including vocal, instrumental, drama, short sermon, creative arts & choir. Rescue 3:16 shined brightly on Saturday entering categories that included choir, audible and inaudible drama, rap, painting, creative movement and fabricated arts.

They all truly represented EPHC and, more importantly, God with a spirit of excellence as they presented their talents to an encouraging audience.  All performances during Talent Quest were followed by rejoicing and praise from the onlookers as they cheered them on and worshiped the Lord in harmony.  It’s a wonderful feeling to be in His presence when believers gather to lift up the name of Jesus.  There is something encouraging and powerful about the Holy Spirit ministering through youth.
